People in Need (PIN) has been active in Ukraine since early August 2014. Currently, PIN is one of the major humanitarian actors in Ukraine responding to the recent military escalation providing humanitarian aid to conflict-affected people across Ukraine. Since 2014, PIN has implemented emergency food and cash assistance, NFI, shelter, protection, livelihoods and WASH interventions supporting 3 million vulnerable IDPs, returnees and host communities in urban and rural areas. General information about the role of the person:
Under the overall supervision of the IT Coordinator, the IT Assistant is responsible for providing effective information and technical support across the mission to ensure timely and quality services for the programs and staff of People in Need (PIN) in Ukraine.The IT Assistant performs various duties related to hardware, software, and IT system support. They monitor and resolve a wide range of technical issues related to the development, maintenance, and oversight of PIN’s IT infrastructure, ensuring timely troubleshooting.
Main duties and responsibilities:
1) Client Devices- Installs or reinstalls the operating system and approved/recommended software.
- Checks and installs all necessary and recommended software and security updates.
- Provides hardware troubleshooting and maintenance; performs basic on-site repairs when possible; organizes cost-effective extended repairs in service centers and verifies the outcomes.
- Connects client workstations to network resources such as shared drives, VPNs, printers, etc.
- Configures and maintains reliable antivirus and malware protection.
- Ensures encryption of data on all client devices and servers as per agreed procedures.
- Provides standard troubleshooting of hardware and software based on experience.
- Consults with the IT Coordinator to resolve more complex technical issues.
- Installs, configures, and maintains basic local and wireless networks with a focus on security.
- Designs and modifies local and wireless networks in collaboration with the IT Coordinator.
- Designs, maintains, troubleshoots, and deploys communication tools as per mission needs, including telephony, internet access, CCTV systems, and other communication means.
- Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots peripheral devices.
- In cooperation with the logistics unit, ensures that offices, guesthouses, and warehouses are equipped with reliable IT infrastructure and internet access.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred, but recent graduates with a relevant IT degree may also be considered.
- Understanding of basic computer network and system concepts (IP addressing, LAN/WAN basics, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi configuration, and troubleshooting).
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, especially Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and OneDrive.
- Confident user of Windows OS; capable of software installation, printer configuration, and managing basic user settings.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for hardware (laptops, peripherals) and software (MS Office, browsers, communication tools).
- Excellent communication skills; polite and professional attitude.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask while responding to feedback.
- Flexibility and adaptability to different situations.
- Basic command of English.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with basic server administration tasks (e.g., monitoring server health, restarting services, checking logs).
- Experience with SharePoint Online (site creation and maintenance, managing access and structure).
- Basic knowledge of Power BI (creating reports, updating data sources).
- Familiarity with Power Automate for creating simple workflows and automations.
- Experience using Jira and Confluence.
