People in Need has launched the regional “COVID-19 Solidarity Programme 2020-2022” with the financial support of the European Union

The aim of the People in Need COVID-19 Solidarity Programme is to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19 and contribute to the longer-term socio-economic resilience of vulnerable population groups in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.

In 2020-2022 People in Need will cooperate with civil society organisations (CSOs) in order to meet the priorities set with this Programme providing the CSOs with grants.

Priorities of the Call:

  • capacity building at the local level to provide public services to vulnerable groups during pandemic,
  • applying the humanitarian principles of humanism, objectivity, protection, participation and responsibility to overcome the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thematic Areas of Interventions:

  • Livelihoods and Economic Recovery
  • Access to Health and Social Services
  • Access to Education
  • Protection

Who can apply:

The Call is open to non-profit civil society organizations officially registered in Ukraine. Organizations must be legal entities of any form of ownership, registered in any region of Ukraine for at least two years, and must have proven experience in Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine for at least one year and may not represent political parties and religious organizations.

Target groups:

The Call for Proposals aims to serve the most vulnerable and at-risk women, girls, boys, and men, and those who are disproportionately affected by COVID-19 and related restrictions.

By vulnerable and at-risk groups, it is meant: those who are already at risk in different ways, and are now most disproportionately affected by COVID-19 which is creating or exacerbating socioeconomic, health, educational and protection risks for them.

The potential target groups for the projects shall include (but shall not be limited to) the following:

  •  Elderly people
  • People with disabilities
  • Women-headed households
  • At-risk youth
  • Isolated women in rural areas
  • Internally displaced people
  • People suffering from chronic diseases
  • School and university students
  • Minority groups
  • Other underserved groups

Target regions:

  • Luhansk region, government-controlled areas
  • Underserved frontline rural settlements and small towns in Luhansk region

Available Funding:

Maximum amount of grant that can be awarded within current call is 30 000 EUR per project.                                        Minimum amount of grant is 20 000 EUR per project.                                                                                                                  The maximum amount of projects that can be funded is 4 projects.

Duration of project implementation:

12 months (January 2021 – December 2021)
