General information about the role of the person
Under overall supervision of the PSS Coordinator is responsible for the realization of the project PSS related activities. He/she organizes the work of the team and works closely with the members of the teams, as well as with local representatives of the community. Joins the program team as needed to provide emergency support where needed.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Provides psycho-emotional support and First Psychological Aid (FPA), emergency, urgent, crisis counseling to the affected population, and, if necessary, travels with the project team to provide such support in places where it is urgently needed;
- Prevents stigmatization and provides appropriate responses to requests for more information (psychological education about the work of a psychologist, stress symptoms, First Aid, emotional burnout, etc.);
- Organizes and conducts group training sessions according to the needs of the population and the team;
- Takes an active part in communication, support, experience sharing, and creating a positive team atmosphere;
- carries out the activities aimed at improving of the socio-psychological state of population in the form of psychologic awareness, group work and individual counseling within the framework of methodology of the project;
- carries out pre-post test, diagnostics and analyze of the received data;
- follows the scheduled trips to identified and selected locations within the mobile team in accordance with the workplan and schedule;
- analyses systematically the feedback by the results of measures implementation, makes changes to measures;
- contributes to assessments, with documentation and reports on time;
- helps to ensure the integration of project activities within overall sector programming.
Required experience and qualifications:
- University degree in psychology, other qualification or in-depth study of MHPSS topics, including IASC Guidelines, child protection, SGBV;
- 3-5 years of practical professional experience with an understanding of conflict-related contexts, with experience in, for example, community mobilization, CPS, youth and social work, including referrals, with diverse community members in a complex humanitarian context;
- Good reporting and analytical skills;
- Priority will be given to candidates with experience working in humanitarian and international NGOs, participating in projects of local organizations;
- At least a basic understanding of humanitarian assistance or development programs in emergencies;
- Teamwork and organizational skills;
- Computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Office programs (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
- Understanding of humanitarian principles and practices;
- Communication and diplomatic skills;
- Organizational and planning skills;
- Ability to work under time pressure.
