Sustainable Livelihood & Environment
Active hostilities and the economic situation have a significant impact on the quality of life of the residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. PIN implements a variety of innovative approaches to program implementation and is looking for solutions to overcome these consequences.
Through grant support for self-employment and entrepreneurship, PIN seeks to improve the economic situation for households and small businesses. Implementing this activity, PIN has created a large number of working places and job opportunities for IDPs and local residents in various fields of services and production, including in the field of social entrepreneurship.
In addition, the support was provided in the agricultural sector at the household level and at the level of farmers' cooperatives through agricultural vouchers, provision of seeds, training support to improve yields and expand markets. The provision of drip irrigation kits and further training in the operation of these systems resulted in significant water savings and increased yields. This approach reduces the impact on the environment.
The next step was the unification of private farms into cooperatives. This approach helps to improve communication within the community and increase the sales market by adhering to a unified approach for growing products and interaction between different people. Much attention is paid to supporting entrepreneurs who propose new solutions for the processing of household waste or technologies that reduce energy consumption. Insulation of dilapidated housing has become one of such approaches. Installation of energy-saving windows in social institutions allows to reduce energy consumption and, as a result, reduces the impact on the environment. PIN supports public initiatives aimed at greening settlements and cleaning up spontaneous dumps.
PIN is a member of public eco-platforms and is constantly looking for new ideas for implementation in new projects. PIN team supports the idea of reducing plastic waste and does not use plastic packaging, adhering to eco-standards throughout the implementation of the programs.
One of the priority areas for PIN has been and remains the introduction of innovative and creative approaches for a long-term and comprehensive impact on the economic and environmental situation in the region.
